December 2019 | New expansion of partnership with Coca Cola Tria Epsilon
New assignments are outsourced by Coca Cola Tria Epsilon to SARMED, one for storage services at its facilities in Thiva and two for transport services from its facilities in Patra.
More specifically, the project in Thiva involves receiving, storing, preparing and loading orders for the delivery of the product ‘Monster’ (energy drink).
The transportation project concerns the final distribution of orders of the entire product range of Coca Cola Tria Epsilon in western Peloponnese from Patra.
The upgraded collaboration with two new projects at SARMED’s regional facilities just months after the DC’s inauguration in Athens, raises the bar even higher for SARMED.

November 2019 | 2nd voluntary blood donation for 2019
True to our values of solidarity, SARMED performed the 2nd voluntary blood donation for 2019 on November 29th, which is the 14th consecutive action since the launch of SARMED’s Blood Donation Bank.
37 units of blood were collected in this donation thus increasing the total contribution of SARMED’s Blood Donation Bank to 459 units from 2012 to date.
The sense of contribution from SARMED’s people who donate blood enable us to support our colleagues and other people in need through the Blood Bank. This year only, 59 units of blood were donated while on average 30 units of blood are donated annually over the past years.
September 2019 | Successful completion of SELIS Project
SARMED successfully participated in a pioneering European Research and Innovation project together with some of the top logistics and IT companies globally such as DHL and IBM. The Shared European Logistics Intelligent Information Space (SELIS) project is a €17 million European Union Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme, running from September 2016 to August 2019.
The SELIS project combined strategies for innovative, efficient and green logistics with leading edge open source information technology techniques that support collaborative logistics, through building a platform for pan-European logistics applications.
Eight SELIS Living Labs (LLs) took place in different geographical settings around Europe (Spain, Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Greece, Germany, Slovenia, Denmark, France, Portugal). From each country, one leader company in the logistics sector was chosen to involve with the design, development and testing of the applications with real business data. For example, from Spain, it was DHL, from Netherlands it was Port of Rotterdam, etc. From Greece, SARMED’s solution delivered operational savings, data management synergies, improvements in load factor and reduction on CO2 footprint.

August 2019 | Confirmation of SARMED's high performance on corporate social responsibility issues
SARMED for a second consecutive year received the “Silver Recognition Level” distinction from EcoVadis for its corporate social responsibility performance. EcoVadis is an international platform that allows companies to monitor the sustainability performance of their suppliers. Its methodology covers over 30,000 suppliers annually from 190 sectors and 150 countries. The system analyzes and evaluates the performance of the company in four main categories: Environment, Labor and Human Rights, Fair Business Practices and Sustainable Procurement. The ECOVADIS rating ranked SARMED in the top 15% of companies of the same sector worldwide with an improved score compared to 2018, while in all 4 categories the performance of SARMED was above the industry average.
This result is recognition and re-confirmation of SARMED’s commitment to the ethical and socially sustainable provision of services, which is captured through four main pillars:
- Working Conditions and Standards
- Health and Safety
- Business Practice and Integrity
These pillars are reflected not only in this certification but also in the way the company operates by incorporating them into the Integrated Management System.
July 2019 | e-CMR: Going Digital in Road Transport - The final event of the Greek pilot project
The final event of the national pilot project in Greece on the use of e-CMR, which was co-organized by the Hellenic Ministry of Infrastructure & Transport and OFAE, took place in Athens on July 17th 2019.
Distinguished speakers from all over Greece and abroad, presented the results of the tests applied in their markets to an audience of more than 150 persons, representing the Greek Logistics market.
SARMED was awarded for its participation in the pilot programme for e-CMR in Greece in the framework of the European Data Logistics Platform AEOLIX (Living Lab 12), as the first participant in the project.
SARMED’s Transport Manager, Mr. George Fardis, presented the advantages which the company identified from the adoption of the above innovative technology. The company’s vast experience in the handling of loads of documents in its daily activity, as well as its knowhow in the usage of new technologies, have played an important role throughout the project.
July 2019 | New distinction of SARMED at the Diamonds of the Greek Economy 2019
At the established event of the “Diamonds of the Greek Economy” which took place on July 10th at the Grande Bretagne Hotel, under the auspices of the Ministry of Economy and Development, Environment & Energy and SEV, SARMED was once again distinguished among other multinational and Greek companies.
SARMED was honored to represent the logistics industry at the event, being the industry’s only distinguished company for its financial strength, innovation, social contribution and remarkable growth in the past year.
Upon receipt of the prize on behalf of the company, Yiannis Ch. Sarantitis, Chairman of the company, stressed that no economic performance is worthy if humans are not at the center of development. This is the reason SARMED systematically invests in the recruitment, education and development of its human resources, not only in terms of technical knowledge and innovation, but also by implementing the policy code of ethics and business conduct as well as social responsibility.
The most important factor, beyond the economic performance, is the company’s growth in the last (less than) one and a half years, where 330 new jobs have been created, despite the difficult economic environment, a fact which has filled the family of SARMED with great pleasure, pride and optimism.
July 2019 | 13th voluntary blood donation
Despite the high temperature, on Thursday 4th of July, SARMED’s employees participated in the 13th voluntary blood donation contributing once again with valuable blood units.
SARMED’s last contribution was 36 units while the total supply of SARMED’s blood donation team is 422 units.
SARMED’s team has covered 254 blood requests since today in order to help our fellowmen who have an immediate need for blood.

May 2019 | Extension of the Quality and Food Safety Management System of SARMED to the facility of PATRA
The process of extending the Integrated Management System of SARMED to the Patras facility was successfully completed. Following the successful audit of the System by the TÜV Hellas Certification Body (TÜV Nord Group), the compliance with the standards ISO 9001:2015 for quality and ISO 22000:2005 for food safety, was confirmed and the relevant certificates were issued.
The confirmation of the effective implementation of the Integrated Management System in the facility of Patra is one more evidence of SARMED’s commitment to operate by providing its partners with high quality services that meet their needs and expectations.
May 2019 | New cooperation with Coca-Cola Tria Epsilon
Coca-Cola Tria Epsilon, the largest Hellenic non-alcoholic beverage company and member of the Coca-Cola HBC Group, operating in 28 countries, assigned to SARMED the management and operation of its Distribution Center for deliveries in Attica.
More specifically, the project involves receiving, storing, preparing orders, loading and unloading distribution vehicles, stock control as well as managing returns and guarantee items.
The trust of Coca-Cola Tria Epsilon and the rewarding expansion of our cooperation for the high-quality services we already provide in the raw materials storage and distribution of refrigerated products (Frulite juices), is particularly pleasing to us but also gives us an increased sense of responsibility to continue our effective and successful cooperation.
May 2019 | Renewal of cooperation with Media Saturn Hellas SA
With great pleasure SARMED announces the renewal of cooperation with Media Markt for the management of all products for its e-shop.
Media Markt is the No. 1 electronics company in Europe with a network of stores in 14 countries, while in Greece it has been active since 2005 with 12 physical stores and an online store.
SARMED’s strategic collaboration with Media Markt began in early 2016 and concerns the management of e-shop stock and the preparation of orders for their distribution.

April 2019 | Participation of SARMED at the 3rd Νο Finish Line in Athens
The most important kilometres were covered by SARMED in April 10-14, at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Centre, not by trucks, but on foot, for the charity race supporting the Association “Together for Children”.
In spite of the unstable weather conditions, SARMED’s team managed to offer 183km at the 3rd NFL charity race.
Many congratulations for the 12,000 participants for their touching effort. A total of 111,006 kilometres were covered in 90 hours, translated to 55,503 euros for children in need.

The 25th European Congress, EUROLOG 19 took place on 3-4 April in Athens. SARMED supported the European event as a sponsor and rapporteur of our field.
Executives from Europe and our country approached the key theme of the congress “A new way of doing business”, highlighting changes across the supply chain due to economic, technological and environmental developments.
At the session “Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS)/Last mile” of the second day, Messrs. Dimitrios Karagiannis (3PL Business Unit Director) and Antonis Danopoulos (IT Director), presented “SARMED distribution/delivery system” from its operational and technological perspective, highlighting SARMED’s strategic investment in the transport network and new technologies to meet the ever-increasing needs in the Logistics / transport services market.
March 2019 | First trial of the e-CMR project by SARMED
On 13 March 2019, the first trial of the digital transport documents (e-CMR) was carried out by SARMED.
The formal launch of the pilot project in Greece under the European AEOLIX program is part of a wider strategy to digitize transport documents as a tool to facilitate trade and enhance supply chain competitiveness by increasing efficiency and at the same time reducing administrative costs as well as the environmental footprint.
The pilot project in Greece is co-ordinated by the Hellenic Federation of Road Transports (OFAE), which is one of the 5 members of the International Road Transport Union (IRU) participating in AEOLIX together with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport.
SARMED expresses its warmest thanks to OFAE for the selection, trust and its support throughout the project.
March 2019 | Expression of Interest for the “Thriasio II” Tender
In a consortium with TRAINOSE, SARMED submitted a file of interest for the International Tender “Concession Contract for the operation, maintenance, exploitation, completion of studies and construction of projects, and procurement of equipment for the Thriasio Freight Centre”.
The duration of the concession is set at 25 years, the Contracting Authority is the General Secretariat for Infrastructure – General Directorate of Transport Infrastructure of the Ministry of Transport and the Competition will be conducted in two phases: a) Expression of interest; and b) Binding tenders, the basic, technical and financial parameters of the project and will finalize the draft concession contract.

We are pleased to announce our new partnership with MADEL FOOD, which maintains the rights of the famous French chain of bakery PAUL, in Greece and Cyprus.
Boulangerie PAUL’s first acquaintance with the Greek public was made in 2010, while 4 stores with on-site bakery and confectionery production in Attica are operating to date. All PAUL stores use their own flour, from their own producers who cultivate varieties exclusively for the chain, producing superior quality food.
The collaboration concerns the provision of logistics – storage and distribution services, in all temperature conditions, as well as return management.

With great success and vast participation from the business world of Northern Greece, was the 6th Logistics SOLUTIONS Conference in Thessaloniki held on Tuesday 05/02.
The conference presented Logistics models of the companies located in the wider region, the particularities of the Route to Market as well as the Logistics market in terms of infrastructure, providers and urban distribution.
